Teen's Awful 'Promposal' Involves a Fake College Rejection Letter

Latest

This seems like a pretty risky move: A high schooler asked his girlfriend to prom by crafting a very convincing fake letter from the University of South Carolina, supposedly rescinding her admission in the fall unless she agreed to go to prom with him.

“Unfortunately, it is clear that your grades are not what they were when we accepted you,” said the letter, according to WYFF:

“It saddens us to say that your admission is in jeopardy, and we may have to pull our admission from you due to your poor school ethic and attendance. However if you were to just agree to go to prom with your boyfriend we could reconsider letting you continue to be a South Carolina Gamecock. So what do you say, will you go to prom with me?”

The fake is pretty good, on realistic-looking University of South Carolina letterhead and everything. Which seems like a damn good way to get dumped, but apparently Caitlyn wasn’t so offended. She tweeted a photo of the letter with, “Oh my god Dylan. Thank you for the heart attack.” When it started to go viral, she seemed pretty pleased:

So if #promposals make you feel old, take comfort in the fact that it’s still true that all any teen really wants is a) to be famous and b) a shout-out from Carson Daily.
