Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to Commandeer the Golden Globes for Two Years

Latest

Starting your Tuesday off with a Mean Girls/SNL/Baby Mama-inspired bang, The Hollywood Reporter says that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will make a tradition of last year’s Golden Globes and are slated to host the awards show in 2014 and 2015, becoming the female duo version of Neil Patrick Harris, or for those who remember the good (ol’ boy) days, Billy Crystal.

Here are three different dudes talking about how great they are:

NBC president of alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy:

Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season. We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.

HFPA president Theo Kingma:

We are thrilled Amy and Tina have decided to return as hosts of the Golden Globe Awards for the next two years. Their return ensures that the Golden Globes will once again be the biggest, best and most entertaining awards celebration of the year.

Dick Clark Productions CEO Allen Shapiro:

Tina and Amy have a truly unique chemistry, making them one of the most talented and captivating pairings of all time. We are thrilled to have them back in 2014 and 2015.

Hopefully Fey and Poehler will set a precedent for more women besides their talented selves (and Ellen Degeneres) to take a big lead at shows like this. They’ve been great in the past about supporting other women; who can forget that beautiful moment in 2011 when Melissa McCarthy won her Emmy and brought all her other nominees onstage, an idea that was credited to Poehler?
