Appalachian Trail Hiking Mark Sanford Joins Fox News
LatestFrom the Appalachian Trail to the… Crappalachian Trail. Disgraced former South Carolina governor and notorious family values-touting philanderer Mark Sanford will soon be reappearing in the public eye again after resigning from office in 2009. This time around, he’ll be joining Fox News, cable TV’s shoutiest network.
Sanford’s tenure with Fox will start prior to the South Carolina Republican primary in January and continue through the election in November 2012, reports the Times.
The former governor was once believed to be a possible contender for the 2012 Presidential nomination before a bizarre span of days in 2009 that started with him disappearing on a mysterious “hiking trip” and culminating with the revelation that he’d been conducting a prolonged affair with an Argentinian businesswoman and using state money to travel between South Carolina and South America. Sanford then embarked on a series of strange TV interviews wherein he cried and told the public that the woman was his soul mate. At the time, Sanford was married and had four young children.
He and his wife Jenny have since been granted a divorce, and Sanford resigned.
