Colbert Suggests Plastic Action Figures To Anti-Consumerist Author

Annie Leonard, creator of “The Story Of Stuff” video was on The Colbert Report to talk about her critique of American consumption. (By the way, she’s the only female guest either Colbert or The Daily Show have this week).

Leonard talked about traveling the world to understand the supply chain of consumer goods — and eventually their disposal. “My understanding is that it comes from China and goes back to ‘I don’t care,” replied Colbert. He added, “You must think this economic downturn is fantastic.”

After pointing out that the book, too, is “stuff,” Colbert said that over 10 million people have seen Leonard’s video. “Have you thought about putting out plastic action figures?”
