Crimea Doesn't Need Gay People, Says De Facto Crimean Leader
Joining the ranks of other despotic leaders, the Kremlin’s man on the Crimean peninsula has basically informed sexual minorities in Crimea they are “not needed,” have “no chance” of being themselves and any public gathering by the queer community will be put down with police and military force.
According to Russian news services like Interfax and Itar-Tass, Sergei Aksyonov, who is currently Crimea’s most senior official, claimed that “we in Crimea do not need such people” and his administration would meet any attempt at celebration of a sexual minority identity with force and attempts at conversion.
Our police and self-defence forces will react immediately and in three minutes will explain to them what kind of sexual orientation they should stick to….a positive attitude to family and traditional values.
LGBT news website, Pink News, reported that a pride parade and celebration which had been planned for the area’s largest city, Sevastopol, was cancelled.
Sounds like this dude is taking leadership classes from former Iranian President Mahmoud “We don’t have gay people in our country” Ahmadinejad. Good luck with that Sergei.
