Fox Debate Moderator: Republicans Must Try Not To Look Like Such 'Whiners and Babies'

Tonight is the night of the 1 millionth Republican debate, hallelujah, praise Reagan!

In preparation, the Washington Post spoke with Neil Cavuto and Maria Bartiromo, the two Fox Business anchors set to moderate the debate. And they are serious about not fucking up like those national laughingstocks at CNBC.

The best part of the interview, however, was when the paper asked if the hosts were the answer to the candidates’ requests for conservative moderators.

“No,” Cavuto responded. “I understand candidates getting annoyed, but they better be careful about looking like whiners and babies. I see this on the right and the left. I think you can ask very tough questions without coming off like an ass. I think it’s incumbent on us to know and appreciate the difference.”

I love that you’re calling the candidates out on their crap, Cavuto, but you are way, way, way too late.

Regarding candidates pushing back and accusing the moderator of asking unfair questions, both Bartiromo and Cavuto are prepared.

“Hopefully it is a fair question,” Bartiromo said. “Look, I’m working on behalf of the voter, that person who needs information to make a decision. If it helps educate and empower the voter, then it’s a fair question.”

Cavuto viewed it as an inevitability: “It’s going to happen. As we get closer to the caucuses and primaries, some candidates are going to get desperate. Some of them are sweating. They’re losing donors, or their poll numbers aren’t good. Even if the question is perfectly sound, you’re going to lash out at the questioner.”

Tune in tonight at 9 p.m. on Fox Business Network. Or, you know, live your life.
