Pope Francis Will Meet With Sexual Abuse Survivors

Pope Francis will meet with a group of sexual abuse survivors at the Vatican next month.

After his visit to the Middle East, Pope Francis also declared a “zero tolerance” policy regarding any clergy member who abuses a child, according to Time.

Francis also revealed that three bishops are currently under investigation by the Vatican for abuse-related reasons, though it wasn’t clear if they were accused of committing abuse itself or of having covered it up.

“There are no privileges,” said Pope Francis. According to Fox News, the meeting will be with six survivors and will also include a Mass where he lives at the Vatican.

[The meeting] will mark the first such encounter for the pope, who has been criticized by victims for not expressing personal solidarity with them when he has reached out to other people who suffer.
