Strauss-Kahn Gets Law & Order Treatment, Possible Lawsuit
Latest
Today in DSK: a face-to-face meeting between the ex-IMF chief and his French accuser could be in the offing, and she says she’s ready to sue. Also, Law & Order: SVU offered its version of the case last night.
Reuters reports that Strauss-Kahn and his accuser Tristiane Banon will take part in a face-to-face “confrontation procedure” as part of preliminary investigation into her accusation. Banon apparently told a French radio station,
The police asked me if I would accept the confrontation, I said of course I would. I want him to be in front of me and for him to look me in the eyes and tell me this is all in my imagination. I’d like to see him tell me that.
She also says she plans to sue Strauss-Kahn in civil court if prosecutors choose not to pursue her criminal case. Meanwhile, on TV, Law & Order: SVU writers have wasted no time getting together their own take on the Strauss-Kahn case, featuring an Italian diplomat. Showrunner Warren Leight says, “In this case, I don’t believe we ripped from the headlines. I believe the actual story ripped us off…We had to do rewrites. Everything we had in our initial draft had to be changed.” Gothamist doesn’t buy this, and neither do we — especially given the scene above, where the diplomat is arrested on an airplane just like DSK was. We wish Ice T had been somehow involved in the real-life arrest, though.
