Strauss-Kahn Shops At Zappos

Dominique Strauss-Kahn apparently likes online shopping as much as the next internationally notorious celebrity defendant — a gossipy neighbor spotted a package from Zappos on his stoop. We decided to check in with the famously friendly company about their headline-grabbing client.

The New York Daily News reports, “a nosy-bodied New Yorker spotted a UPS slip addressed to “Strauss” from discount online shoes retailer outside the swanky Franklin St. digs in Tribeca that DSK currently calls home.” Nosy-bodied? Anyway, I was curious what Zappos would have to say about this, and whether DSK was a VIP customer. A call to Zappos headquarters got me a conversation with an extremely folksy receptionist, who asked me to email the PR department. I did so, and a mere few minutes later, company spokesperson Corina Craig got back to me with this:

Unfortunately, we are unable to disclose any information regarding any of our customers. I do apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause you. Should you have any additional questions, I’d be more than happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Good luck on your article! :]

Not helpful, but she sure is sweet. It’s understandable that she didn’t want to comment further, given the fact that an alleged rapist running around in your shoes isn’t exactly an endorsement. In fact, we could see Zappos asking DSK not to shop there, as Abercrombie & Fitch did with The Situation. Then again, they’re probably way too nice.
