We're Really in It Now

As speculated, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is officially running for president. She announced the decision on the Late Show as Stephen Colbert held her hand, which feels a little too Hollywood for something so formal, but to each their own.

“I’m filing an exploratory committee for the President of the United States,” Gillibrand said. “Tonight!”

Gillibrand said her platform will focus on investing in public schools, healthcare, and job training. “But you are never going to accomplish any of these things if you don’t take on the systems of power that make all of that impossible,” she said, “which is taking on institutional racism, it’s taking on the corruption and greed in Washington, taking on the special interests that write legislation in the dead of night.”

Congrats to Gillibrand, who will soon be joined by approximately 248,000 more Democrats who want to run for president.
