Don't Fuck With West Virginia Teachers

I thought it was Monday but actually it’s Tuesday. Time to cry!

Here’s all the shit we couldn’t cover today:

  • Teachers in West Virginia went out on strike again on Tuesday after the state legislature considered multiple versions of a bill that would have opened the door to charters and private school vouchers. After just a few hours out on the picket, the bill was “effectively killed.” The state Senate president warned he was “disappointed” but “not defeated.” Poor baby. [NPR]
  • While we’re on the topic: Oakland teachers are poised to strike on Thursday. [Mercury News]
  • Bernie Sanders has hired the American Civil Liberty Union’s political director, Faiz Shakir, to serve as his campaign manager. [The Daily Beast]
  • Elizabeth Warren has introduced a plan to make childcare more accessible to all families, something that even four years ago felt like a political pipe dream and is now an early centerpiece of a presidential campaign. Things are very shitty always, and there’s a lot to parse in the rollout and specifics (and if the program is actually “universal” as described), but this is a good thing. [New York Times]

Here are some tweets the president was allowed to publish:

This has been Barf Bag.
