Conservatives Will Win Battle Against Homosexuality By Banning The Word "Gay"
LatestThis weekend at The Awakening conference at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., Ryan Sorba, chairman of the Young Conservatives of California, argued: “‘Gay’ is a left-wing socio-political construct designed to create grounds for fundamental rights [based on] whimsical capricious desires … Gay identity does not exist.” According to The American Independent, Sorba suggested possible alternative terms for gay behavior, including, “Same-sex attraction,” “Same-sex intercourse,” “Sodomy,” “Unnatural vice,” or simply referring to homosexuals as “anti-Christian.” If we’re going to use the same term for homosexuals and everyone who enjoys oral or anal sex from time time, it seems like Sorba is going to have a lot more “gays” to deal with.
Cynthia Dunbbar, an assistant law professor at Liberty University, also seemed confused about her stance on sodomites, or whatever she’d prefer to call them. From The American Independent:
“We have to reach out to those trapped in lifestyle that ultimately leads to death,” she said, ignoring the fact that all lifestyles ultimately lead to death. “Liberty is not the ability to do whatever hedonistic ideas you have. Whoever’s defining the terms is going to win the argument.”
But Christians also need to fight homosexuals, she said.
“There are a lot of gay staffers in Congress,” Dunbar said. “They work all hours and they don’t have family lives, but they do have veto power.”
While their arguments were poorly articulated, those at the panel believe that by simply using the term “homosexual” they are letting the liberals win by implying that sexual orientation exists. Of course, they believe that everyone is born heterosexual, some people just get confused and wind up loving people of the same sex throughout their lives.
A lawmaker in Tennessee is working to make sure kids don’t pick up the idea that gay people exist. Tomorrow State Senator Stacey Campfield will introduce legislation, known as the “Don’t Say Gay Bill,” that reads, “… no public elementary or middle school shall provide any instruction or material that discusses sexual orientation other than heterosexuality.” Surprisingly, no school in the state is showing fourth graders gay porn or discussing homosexuality at all, but apparently Campfield wants to be prepared.
According to Veracity Stew, the Tennessee Equality Project has launched a petition against the bill, in which they say,
The bill would tie the hands of school counselors, school psychologists, teachers, principals and other school employees in protecting our children. If a child is experiencing issues relating to their sexual orientation or identity, they would be unable to discuss those issues with the adults who are supervising and teaching them. Early detection of the signs of depression can help prevent suicides among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth.
Both efforts represent the height of childishness. It’s the political equivalent of conservatives plugging their ears and humming to themselves about gay people not being real.
