Drake, Go Sit Down and Make a Song of the Summer

When Drake sits court side at a Toronto Raptors game, as he often does, he has, how shall we say this, a lively presence. He whoops, he screams, he claps so forcefully he inspires memes, and takes his official status as a “team ambassador” a little too seriously. He’s so annoying court side that the Milwaukee Bucks head coach recently complained about Drake’s behavior, saying he had crossed boundaries on the court.

This is upsetting because, frankly, there’s a very important job Drake needs to do. It’s a music emergency. The clock is ticking, and there is still not a clear song of the summer contender, or even a contender for who is going to write it. Let’s break it down: “ME!” is trash, and “Old Town Road” will certainly be dead by summertime (sorry kids.) Beyoncé is off the hook, Ariana Grande needs a break, and Rihanna has no comment. Most of America is sleeping on “Con Altura.” To make matters worse, Ed Sheeran is releasing a new album of collaborative tracks with artists like Chance the Rapper and other unknown stars in July. We are facing a summer in which Ed Sheeran might rule the radio.

Drake, get the hell off the court and into the studio.
