Anyone who had the pleasure of growing up watching The Ren & Stimpy Show witnessed so much crazy twisted visual debauchery they probably had no need to drop acid (and yet probably were more likely to do so). The creator of the batshit insane show, John Kricfalusi has one of the most recognizable visual styles, one that the recent new school pizzacore cartoon artists seem desperate to emulate.
John K recently sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss his latest gig creating an animation, the opening video for Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz tour, and he’s shared some of his work as well. Given the outrageous nature of Miley and the presence of tongues in both Miley and John K’s work, this seems to be a pretty good fit. You can check out more sketches at his Twitter and blog.
