Virginia McLaurin is 109 years old and she has got things figured out. Tuesday was her third time celebrating her birthday with the Harlem Globetrotters, and it honestly looks like it was a blast.
McLaurin went viral one her 106th birthday after she got to meet with the Obamas at the White House, and danced her way into all our hearts. One year later, it was reported that McLaurin was unable to obtain a photo I.D. or birth certificate, a fact she used to comment on voter I.D. laws. This is all stuff that happened after she passed her centennial, so just imagine everything she accomplished before.
The HuffPost reports that McLaurin’s party was at a nearby elementary school in D.C., accompanied by players Zeus McClurkin and Swish Young. As part of her birthday celebration, the Globetrotters gave her a new jersey numbered 109, and donated 109 tickets in her name to local underprivileged kids for Globetrotter games. When asked by ABC 7 how she enjoyed the party, McLaurin answered, “Love it! Love it! As soon as I get home, I’m going to have coffee and cake!”
Though it’s a surprise that this long-time D.C. resident isn’t a fan of Globetrotters rivals the Washington Generals, we can still all agree that McLaurin knows how to live.
