Reader Roundup
LatestWow. The weekend left you guys rested and ready! The best comments of the day are really quite remarkable:
Best Comment Of The Day, in response to Kristen Stewart’s Gay Rumor; Tila Tequila’s Suicide Stunt: “I think that if I ever discovered that I’d been tattooed with an incorrect, spelling, I would go back to the tattoo shop and demand that the artist add the wavy little red lines underneath it for no charge.” • Best Comment Of The Day, in response to Helen Thomas Announces Retirement: “Fingers crossed for a tv show with Sandra Day O’Connor in which they fight political corruption and judicial misconduct. Like Cagney and Lacey crossed with Golden Girls, and a touch of All the President’s Men. But with more nudity and gunplay.” • Best Comment Of The Day, in response to Is Audrey Hepburn To Blame For Carrie Bradshaw?: “I couldn’t help but wonder…could you truly be a single gal in the city without a ukulele and a cat? Meanwhile, across town, I decided that my night would end with Breakfast at Tit Fannys, with none other than Mr. Big.” • Best Comment Of The Day, in response to Watch Spelling Bee Champ Shame Neil Patrick Harris And Kelly Ripa: “Please NPH was a doctor at like 12, I think his intellectual chops are established.” • Best Comment Of The Day, in response to Elephant Escapes Circus To Swim & Shop : “I don’t blame Sabu for escaping to shop. Elephants can’t resist a trunk show.” And! ” She heard there was a White Elephant Sale and had to check it out.” • Best Comment Of The Day, in response to Are You There, God?:
Sometimes, praying is all that’s left.
I grew up in P-cola. It was customary to write a wish, prayer, hope, or dream on the sand, and watch until the waves took it away, out to sea.
On my 9th birthday, at sunset, my dad and I went down to the beach to write my b-day wish. I wrote: “Please let me be a lawyer and let me help people.” My dad and I watched as the words slowly washed away in the incoming tide.
18 years later—I’m in law school and in the process of fulfilling that birthday wish. The pale cream and orange shell that wrote that message still sits on my desk.
Thanks for all the memories, Pensacola Beach.
