In case you are suffering Game of Thrones withdrawal and still wondered whether Winter Was Coming, it is, but this summer as a course at the University of Virginia.
A professor named Lisa Woolfork created a class that encourages students to “analyze” the Game of Thrones book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, according to UVA Today. Woolfork’s creation is a four-week summer English seminar that pushes undergrads to delve deep into the books while watching the HBO series.
“One of the goals behind this class was to teach students how the skills that we use to study literature are very useful skills for reading literature and TV in conjunction,” Woolfork, an associate professor of English, said. “‘Game of Thrones’ is popular, it’s interesting, but it’s also very serious. There are a lot of things in the series that are very weighty, and very meaningful, and can be illuminated through the skills of literary analysis.”
My question? How deep are these student going to research Jon Snow’s hotness? I mean, are there reels of footage that these young minds have to watch or maybe, like, Tumblr gif research? Because I may volunteer as tribute when it comes study time.
