Allen West Slams Middle School LGBT+ Groups as 'Indoctrination'

In Depth

Former US Representative Allen West (R) has penned what can only be termed as a diatribe against LGBT educators looking to help LGBT and straight students form “Gay Straight Alliance” clubs. And, wow, is it a doozy.

Rep. West wrote the piece after reading a much more comprehensive piece by LTC (Ret) Dr. Rich Swier. And Swier’s piece is honestly even more ridiculous. Basically the argument is that “homosexual-transgender” activists are creating these organisations with the intent to recruit “vulnerable” “psychologically damaged” youth. And West goes onto say that when youth are discovering who they are, they are actually being “persuaded to self-identify as LGBT” by these Gay Straight Alliance organisations.

And so a hat tip to our cohort LTC (Ret) Dr. Rich Swier who writes, “The homosexual-transgender movement is working hard to indoctrinate schoolchildren as young as possible. By far, the most effective way is to get them into school-based “gay” clubs that are run by activist, often radical, adults, but though otherwise unsupervised. They have been working at this for several years, but are now ramping up their efforts considerably.

Except, of course, it’s total bullshit. Sexual orientation and gender identity usually come to the forefront during adolescence (but not always), however the actual orientation or identity usually exists long before puberty hits. You cannot create sexual orientation, you cannot create gender identity. You sure as hell can’t create them through an after school club most straight kids will probably attend for the pizza and soda. If this was part of the “gay agenda” it would be a really piss poor way to go about (protip: there is no gay agenda. STAAAAHP).

Silly me, what ever happened to the three Rs; reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmetic? I guess this is how we get those test scores to be more competitive against the rest of the world.

May I direct the Honorable Gentleman from Florida (gag) to the fact that most of these clubs are in fact after school. They do not usually cut into the normal school day, and if they do, probably at a much lower rate than sports or cheerleading or band or any other number of student organisations or groups I can possibly possibly share from my own school experiences.

Just one simple point — can you imagine if there was a conference of Christians that brought together teachers, activists, and supportive administrators to promote “Christian clubs” in schools? Oh yeah, I can hear it now: the separation of church and state diatribe. So why is there not a greater outrage over the GLSEN conference? Riiight, it’s trendy and culturally acceptable to be gay — but that whole Christian thing? Archaic and antiquated.
Being a Christian is mean and intolerant. Being gay is loving and tolerant – except when it comes to those brothers and the cancellation of their show on HGTV because of the loving and tolerant gay community.

I’m an Episcopalian. I’m also a lesbian trans woman. You can be a Christian without being an asshole, and in fact, while I (unlike you) will not speak for Christ in His completeness, I’m pretty sure that’s the whole message: don’t be an asshole. So, uh, don’t be an asshole?

And in any case, you’re wrong. Have you never heard of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes? That particular Christian association had a very, very, VERY strong presence at most of the Texas schools I attended. They were particularly strong at my high school. This was a high school where I approached the principal in 1999 by myself as a 16 year old to start a GSA club. It was rejected immediately with no consideration. I wasn’t even out. I knew few gay people. I didn’t even realise I was transgender because I didn’t know the word. There were no “homosexual-transgender activists” coming into my school and telling me to do this.

I did this because I needed support, and so did the other LGBT+ students in the school. Nearly all of them closeted. And the lesbian couple who were not were routinely harassed by pretty much everyone. No effort was made to stop it. This was about us. Teens. Teens with sexual orientations and gender identities which went unrecognised by all but ourselves, and even we didn’t always have the information to know what labels to apply to ourselves.

Swier reports that middle schools are such an important target that GLSEN recruited an activist “LGBT” middle school student to address the conference’s opening session. She said she’s bisexual (in middle school!) and that her sister is lesbian. The girl spoke about how she helped organize the “Day of Silence” in her middle school.

….Yes, you can be bisexual in middle school. I always knew I was a girl, but in middle school was when I realised I was a girl who liked girls. I know you want to desexualise preteens and teens because SATAN and SIN, but let’s be honest here. This is precisely the time when bodies are developing for the evolutionary goal of reproduction. SEX. Sexual attraction, if it didn’t exist earlier (and sometimes it does), shows up in the tween and teen years. Usually tween and early teen years, in fact. By the late teens, most people know their sexuality, but not always.

The middle school student added that “kids are figuring out who they are younger than ever” (i.e., being persuaded to self-identify as L, G, B, or T) and that “we need to create a safe environment for them in the lower grades.” This was a mantra that was repeated again and again in the conference.
By the way, “safe environment” is the Orwellian term for a school that aggressively enforces pro-“LGBT” sexual ideology and suppresses all dissent. Given that middle school students wouldn’t have these ideas and talking points on their own, it shows how well the adult activists instruct them.

No, a “safe environment” is an environment which is safe. It isn’t Orwellian coding. Right now LGBT+ students are being bullied mentally and physically. They are being outed with nowhere to turn. They are being beat up. They are being sexually assaulted by classmates. Sometimes they are ignored or even bullied by teachers or administrators. I was. Until you walk a school hallway in our shoes and see how unsafe that hallway is, you should probably stop talking. Soon. Like right now.

In middle school, I had a hard time figuring out whether I would survive playing both sides of the ball. I was focused on making good grades, not my sexual behavior.

Yeah, right, Mr. West. I don’t believe you. You cannot possibly expect us to believe that 12 year old Allen didn’t think about girls. Maybe you didn’t. Maybe you were a late bloomer. Maybe you didn’t realise your attraction to girls until high school, but I’d wager you were still an adolescent. Sure, you could be the exception, but that’s a bet I’m willing to take.

Here we are sitting around thinking our kids are going to school to get an academic education, when in reality they’re just lab rats in an indoctrination test tube. Thesustainable approach for the gay community — since reproduction requires outside assistance– is one of recruitment and indoctrination — right in our faces.

Do you even science? There are plenty of ways for LGBT+ parents to have children, either through in-vitro fertilisation in some cases, adoption in others, surrogates in still others. And now it’s even possible to change the DNA being carried by sperm and eggs so a child will have both parents’ DNA. True, this is still in its beginning stages, but it has major implications for LGBT+ parenting.

WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MAKING MORE GAY PEOPLE. I imagine most LGBT+ parents are happy to have children and are unlikely to treat their straight children the way you have treated them.

School is about education, not indoctrination. It’s my responsibility as a parent to teach values and behavior to my children. It is because of foolishness like this that my girls attended faith-based schools.

This is education. Education you will do anything in your power to prevent from being shared. This is education which is vital to students who may not have any other safe place to go. You can deny them the safe spaces, sir, but you cannot change who they are. I really wish you’d stop trying.
