It’s been 20 years since Angel premiered, introducing Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans and vampire-thirsty 10-year-old me to the wacky world of Wolfram & Hart. New York’s Comic Con plans to celebrate that milestone by reuniting the whole cast…save for Angel himself. Some stars skip their own birthday parties, some skip their own 20th anniversary reunion events at Comic Con.
Indeed, according to TV Guide, the principle demon and demon-fighting attorneys-at-law will be assembling at the Jacob K. Javits Center from October 3-6, with Charisma Carpenter, Alexis Denisof, Amy Acker, and J. August Richards all set to attend. James Marsters, who hopped over to Angel for its final season after breaking my fragile little child heart during the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series finale (yes, I am aware that Spike is a deeply problematic character and my therapist and I talk about it all time) will also make an appearance.
(Andy Hallett, who played Lorne, died in 2009.)
And yet, no Boreanaz, even though he himself suggested convening an Angel reunion earlier this year. Can there be Angel without Angel, or will it be a bit like Angel without a soul (i.e. very bad, super murderous, much hotter)? I suppose the Grateful Dead has gotten by without Jerry Garcia, so truly anything’s possible.
