Former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer Can't Believe Anyone Would Call Republicans 'Racists and Bigots'

Former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, who is supporting Donald Trump, who is good buddies with human rights nightmare Sheriff Joe Arpaio, and who signed an insanely draconian anti-immigrant bill into law, is sick of people suggesting that Republicans are racist. Oh?

Brewer appeared on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday, where she got in a tensely smiling little tussle with former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, a gentle and statesmanlike blazer mannequin come to life who also once did something else, I can’t recall, it’ll come to me.

The ruckus, such as it was, began when Tapper asked if President Obama referring to Donald Trump as a “charlatan” will hurt him any.

“No, I don’t believe it,” Brewer responded brightly. “President Obama just always comes tearing after Republicans constantly. Calling names and calling people bigots and racists, and that’s their big comeback and absolutely ridiculous.” Brewer said in 2010, in the midst of all the unpleasantness with that very racist immigration law, that she “loves them from the bottom of my heart.” She meant Latinos, some of whom are her friends. (“I’ve got many friends, of many cultures and certainly a great deal of them are Hispanics.”)

O’Malley begged to differ: “Governor Brewer, President Obama doesn’t say this about all Republicans but he does say rightly that Donald Trump is a bigot,” he said. “Donald Trump is a racist. Donald Trump in fact is making fascist appeals. That’s why many self-respecting Republicans are not supporting Donald Trump for president.”

Brewer repeated her belief that everyone is always calling her a racist for no reason: “President Obama and Hillary Clinton, every time you disagree with them it doesn’t matter which subject it is, you’re a bigot or you’re a racist.”
