It Takes A Village Idiot To Create "Which Female Politician Would Run The Best Daycare" Poll
LatestHey ladies, have you ever sat around and asked yourself, “You know, I wonder who would run the best daycare: Hillary Clinton, Sarah Palin, Michelle Obama, or Nancy Pelosi?” You haven’t? Well US News has!
The US News and World Report site currently features a poll asking “If you had a choice of four daycare centers run separately by Michelle Obama, Sarah Palin, Hillary Clinton, and Nancy Pelosi, which would you choose for your kids?” which runs below a ridiculous picture of all four women that appears to have been stolen from the California Raisins Claymation Special of 1988. For some reason, they are standing around in front of a poster of the Michael Keaton film “Mr. Mom”, which was made at a time when the concept of stay at home fathers was wacky and hilarious…25 years ago.
Sarah Palin’s daycare is currently in the lead, followed by Michelle Obama’s. Because these are the important choices we should be making, regarding women and their role in politics, no? And with all of the amazing questions one could ask about Secretary Clinton’s recent trip to China or how Speaker Pelosi is handling the stimulus situation, it’s probably best to focus on hypothetical childcare scenarios. As Media Matters notes: “And no, the poll doesn’t offer the obvious fifth choice: ‘Why the hell would anyone ask this question?'”
Another poll currently running on the site? “If Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could pick any job for her husband, former President Bill Clinton, what would it be?” The current winner of said poll? “House husband,” with 37% of the vote. Because isn’t it hilarious to think of a woman having a job and her husband taking on the role of raising children and caring for the home? Oh man! Where do they come up with this stuff! Oh, right: 1983. Maybe next week’s poll will reference another Michael Keaton gem! “If Secretary Clinton says Beetlejuice three times, will he appear and destroy this polling system forever via giant sand worms?” We have the facts, and we’re voting yes.
