“Presidential brothers-in-law are supposed to be monumental screwups,” Stephen Colbert chided Craig Robinson last night. He encouraged Michelle Obama‘s brother to “have some sort of land-fraud deal or put out a malt liquor with your face on it.”
But Robinson has had other plans — he’s just written a memoir about his path from Ivy League star basketball player to Wall Street banker to university basketball coach. Colbert also ribbed him for walking away from banking, where he might have gotten a chance to have a positive influence: “Isn’t that a message to our kids, that at a certain level no matter how badly you screw up there’s security?” Robinson begged to differ.
