Norm Macdonald recently gave a lengthy interview to the Hollywood Reporter in which he said that “there are very few people that have gone through” what Louis C.K. and Roseanne Barr have gone through, “losing everything in a day.” If you thought, wow, that’s an insanely shitty, misinformed thing to say Norm, the Tonight Show agrees with you!
The New York Times reports that The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has canceled an upcoming appearance from Macdonald because of his recent comments. “Out of sensitivity to our audience and in light of Norm Macdonald’s comments in the press today, ‘The Tonight Show’ has decided to cancel his appearance on Tuesday’s telecast,” NBC told the paper in a statement. Granted, Macdonald did attempt to apologize in a tweet for his comments, writing that he would “never defend their actions,” but it was too little too late.
The cancellation is for the best, considering I seriously don’t trust Fallon interviewing anyone, let alone challenging a famous person on insensitive comments they recently made in the press.
