Yes, I’m a little bit obsessed with the sometimes romantic, often pornographic, pipe-dream-oriented “This Could Be Us But You Playing” meme. And apparently, Prince digs it too.
As seen on The Daily Dot, a reporter from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune spoke with Prince recently, and he had exciting news:
Prince explained that the next song, “This Could Be Us,” was inspired by a meme of him and Apollonia riding on a motorcycle, clearly a scene taken from the 1984 movie “Purple Rain.” It’s a joyful ballad with some ecstatic Prince vocalizing.
HRH Prince himself was all, “Let’s go crazy, let’s get nuts” and tweeted:
Ahhhhh. So good.
As James Cook at the Daily Dot points out, Prince was slow to embrace the internet; in 2010 he declared the Internet “over,” remarking “all these computers and digital gadgets are no good. They just fill your head with numbers and that can’t be good for you.” But now he’s tweeting! And embracing “this could be us.” Next up: Prince creates a set of sexy purple emoji?
