Shirley describes the first meeting with her future husband Moe as “a meeting of the souls.” In the video, made by Brandon Stanton of Humans of New York, Shirley describes their long lives together. They went dancing together in New York. When he was sent off to war, he sent her drawings and poetry. They had a long and beautiful life together.

When she realized he was dying, she says she asked him “Moe, what will I do without you?” He answered “Take the love you have for me and spread it around…there, beauty is found.”

“It was always nice to have his arms around me,” she says. I can imagine.
