Aspiring Flower Girl Goes Hunting for a Wedding to Crash

Latest

Four-year-old Annabelle really, really wanted to be someone’s flower girl. But she didn’t know anybody planning a wedding. So she and her mom staked out the Manhattan City Clerk’s office. Dreams do come true! (If you’re willing to wait around a municipal building propositioning randoms.)

It began back in April with Annabelle’s visit to Yoko Ono’s Washington, D.C. Wishing Tree. Her mom told NBC:

“Then she said to me, ‘Can I tell you what I wished for?’ I said of course and she said, ‘I wished for a rainbow unicorn for a pet, a real one,'” her mother recalled.
“I said, ‘Sweetie, those aren’t real. You can’t have that.’ And she was devastated.”

They ran through several alternatives and settled on being somebody’s flower girl. Only they didn’t know anybody getting married. So Annabelle put on a floral frock and some lace gloves, bought a bodega bouquet and stood inside the Manhattan City Clerk’s office with a sign asking, “Can I Be Your Flower Girl?” “She was too adorable to say no to, and we thought it would be fun to make her day as well as ours,” said the bride who took her up on her offer.

Clearly Annabelle needs to join forces with the wedding watchers of Brooklyn’s Grand Army Plaza, forming an impossibly charming elopement-crashing supergroup.
