David Letterman Asks Mindy Kaling if She's Ever Drunk Herself Into Oblivion

Mindy Kaling was on the Late Show with David Letterman last night to promote the premiere of The Mindy Project. All and all, the interview was charmingly awkward with Dave first thinking that she had written a spin-off of The Office (she hasn’t) and then quizzing her on her drinking habits while maybe trying to goad her into saying that she’s an alcoholic. With anyone else, the interview could have been disastrous, but, luckily, these two seemed able to keep up with one another.

In other Kaling news, Miss Mindy is featured in this month’s Glamour dressed like Marge Simpson and it’s pretty adorable. She offers up these thoughts on today’s women in television:

“It used to be that you had to make female TV characters perfect so no one would be offended by your ‘portrayal’ of women. Even when I started out on The Office eight years ago, we could write our male characters funny and flawed, but not the women. And now, thankfully, it’s completely different.”

The times, they are a’ changin.’
