Hell Yes: The Director of Frozen Is Adapting A Wrinkle in Time

Latest

Great news if you’ve got a glasses-wearing, math-loving girl in your life: Jennifer Lee, the cowriter and director of Frozen, will be adapting beloved O.G. young-adult novel A Wrinkle in Time. You know, the one where pissy, mulish scientists’ daughter Meg Murry goes skipping across space and time to find her missing astrophysicist father.

That’s according to Variety. Lee will be tackling the project for Disney, whose execs have apparently remembered how much money female-focused franchises make, and she’s a longtime fan:

Published in 1962, “Wrinkle in Time” was one of Lee’s favorite novels as a child, and she impressed Disney executives with her take on the project, which emphasizes a strong female-driven narrative and creatively approaches the science fiction and world-building elements of the book.

After several moments of searching this news for the catch, I’m happy (though confused) to say I can’t find one. If Disney screws this up, I will personally FedEx a box of cat poop to corporate HQ. But it sounds like the novel that inspired many of us (or maybe just me?) to dream of living in a rambling rural home with a kind-eyed husband is in good hands.

In the meantime, please construct a 500-word essay contrasting sullen Edward Cullen with redheaded sweetheart Calvin O’Keefe and the implications for today’s teens.
