I Love This Episode of The Real Housewives of Congressional Hearings

NewsPolitics

We made it to the weekend.

Here’s all the shit we couldn’t cover today:

  • Lynne Patton, a Department of Housing and Urban Development employee, reportedly couldn’t get permission from her employer to star in a reality TV show about black Republicans—but that’s not going to stop her from trying to get her face on TV more often. The Trump aide had a cameo at the Michael Cohen hearing as a visual reminder that the president hires black people, and appeared on Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity’s shows after that. A rising star! She’s also been living in New York City public housing to demonstrate just how bad they are—and next week, has invited media to tag along. Something tells me this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her. [Washington Post]
  • In other HUD news, carbon monoxide poisoning has taken 11 lives in public housing since 2003, a problem that could be solve if, oh I don’t know, the federal law required public housing to carry carbon monoxide detectors. [NBC News]
  • Another Democratic nominee hopeful enters the 2020 race, will probably his dreams crushed. [Washington Post]
  • Will anyone step up and take this open job as the head of the super PAC Trump needs to get reelected? No? Anyone? [Politico]
  • Sheldon Adelson, who has donated hundreds of millions of dollars to Republican causes and conservative super PACs in the 2018 election, is in “dire” health. [Politico]
  • In addition to keeping the service and agricultural industries running, undocumented immigrants also pay mad taxes, not that racists will care. [Vox]
  • More than 1,000 TSA agents who worked during the government shutdown are still waiting on back pay. [CNN]
  • More evidence that women in government detention don’t receive proper medical attention: The number of undocumented women detained that has miscarried has almost doubled since Trump took office. [Daily Beast]

Here are some tweets the president was allowed to publish:
