Jersey Shore Red Carpet Fashion: Wit, Wisdom, Abs
LatestFor all who hear “KIIS-FM” hosting “Now 34 And The Jersey Shore” party and think, there’s no fashion to talk about there, hold up: the Hollywood Tower do set an extravagantly rococo mood highlighting the muscular power of recognizable iconography:
Jenni “JWoww” Farley referenced Byzantine art with delicate irony.
Pauly D Delvecchio‘s playful take on the masculine and feminine plays overtly with concepts of the tame and the wild.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s lush florals seem to echo the watercolor motifs of a few seasons ago, but with a new infusion of wit and a nod to a very modern concept of structure.
While Angelina Pivarnick‘s deconstruction of hyper-stylized hair-metal tropes may be witty, the look’s restraint belies any hint of overt homage.
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino gives a characteristically irreverent spin to streetwear cliches.
As a whole, the event felt optimistic and youthful but with a mich-needed gloss of self-awareness that made the fashions an intellectual- as well as visual – challenge for viewers.
