Julianne Moore Plays a Charming, Disco-Loving Divorcée in Gloria Bell

“Well, when the world blows up, I hope I go down dancing!” Gloria Bell says cheerfully in the trailer for the new movie of the same name, out in March 2019.

Bell, played by Julianne Moore, is a divorcée who spends her time disco-dancing at singles clubs, doing yoga, and checking in on her kids. When she meets the suave Arnold (John Turturro), who reads her poetry and takes her out paint-balling, they both seem excited to embark on a new romance, despite the fact that he may not be as put together as he seems.

Gloria Bell is written and directed by Sebastián Lelio, who won the Academy Award last year for his movie A Fantastic Woman. He actually first released an acclaimed Chilean-Spanish version of Gloria back in 2013 and fans of the original have wondered if an American version would ruin the movie’s frank and unpatronizing depiction of aging. But Moore looks irresistibly charming in this and with Lelio at the helm its hard to imagine it not being great.

Gloria Bell is out in theaters March 8, 2019.
