Justin Timberlake Is Reportedly Crying Rivers Over Britney Spears’ Memoir

"Justin is not at all happy about what has come out in this book," a source told the Daily Mail about the former boybander's reaction to his grown ex's memoir.

It’s been a big month for insecure men and immersive memoirs. John Stamos can’t seem to stop reflecting on how he resented his ex-wife, Rebecca Romijn, for “out-growing” him in his forthcoming tell-all, and Justin Timberlake is reportedly very upset at Britney Spears for deigning to recall in her memoir that he was a shitty boyfriend in the early 2000s. We simply have to giggle.

According to a new Daily Mail exclusive, Spears’s recent revelations about their three-year relationship in her new book, The Woman In Me, are not only thwarting the former boybander’s wedding anniversary plans but his overall mental health. In case you’ve missed it, Spears included the good (there isn’t much!), the bad (infidelity, break up by text message, and an “agonizing” abortion at the age of 19), and the blaccent when it came to her time with Timberlake.

“Britney’s book coming out with all the revelations coming from it has not been the best for his anniversary celebrations,” one source told the tabloid. “Having it in the zeitgeist hasn’t been a topic of constant conversation but Justin and Jessica have definitely talked about it.”

They then added: “And to have to think of all of that during a time when they should celebrate their love for each other hasn’t been the most satisfying of days lately, it has been a bit stressful.” Before you can offer a boo-fucking-hoo on Spears’ behalf, another source said that she’s pretty unbothered by Timberlake’s reaction.

“Doing this book has given Britney life and she really doesn’t care who is offended by anything in it because it is what happened,” they said. “She was there and is just telling it from her point of view.”

If Timberlake is so affected, I have to wonder why hasn’t he, say, issued a diplomatic statement, or spoken to Spears behind the scenes—and before you wonder whether he has already, the tabloid’s sources insist otherwise.

“Justin has not reached out to Britney at all about any of this and he is not going to because there is nothing he can say to her,” they said. Instead, Timberlake is “trying to figure it out and avoid the naysayers.” Yeah, because history shows that similar situations between two famous adult exes are really best left to places like the Daily Mail to speculate on. As of now, Timberlake has yet to publicly comment.

Given Timberlake is responsible for bolstering the narrative that the demise of his relationship with Spears was due to her cheating rather than his own—namely with a little song called “Cry Me A River” and a slew of spiteful interviews—I find any rumor about his rage positively riotous. Meanwhile, The Woman In Me, is currently sitting atop bestseller lists at Barnes and Noble and Amazon and, per Spears’ latest Instagram post, has become the highest-selling celebrity memoir in history in less than a day.

To borrow from some of Timberlake’s old lyrics: “Tale as old as time girl [er, boy], you got what you deserved.”
