Looks Like Vanity Fair's New 'New Wave' Is Not All Young White People

Latest

In past years, it’s been clear that Vanity Fair‘s idea of Hollywood is less than diverse. But according to a newly released “sneak peek” of this year’s “Next Wave” spread in the July issue with Shailene Woodley on the cover, they’ve learned not to make their spreads entirely all white people.

2014’s idea of “Young Hollywood/The New Wave/The Next Wave/This Ocean Of Young Hotties Is So Stressful With Its Endlessly Flowing Waters” includes:

Odeya Rush (The Giver), Bella Thorne (IDK but her name is familiar), Josh Wiggins (Hellion), Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf/the closeted gay dude Jess almost sleeps with on New Girl), Britt Robertson (met Dylan O’Brien on the set of a movie called The First Time and they used to date but now they may have broken up? So sad!), Dayo Okeniyi (The Hunger Games), Tye Sheridan (Mud), Jaden and Willow Smith (The Smiths), Maika Monroe (Labor Day), Will Poulter (awkward dude from We’re the Millers), Olivia Cooke (Bates Motel; an upcoming movie about an Ouija board?!), Ben Schnetzer (The Book Thief), Lily James (Cinderella), Jack Kilmer (Palo Alto), Eve Hewson (Enough Said), Zoey Deutch (sorry I loved Vampire Academy), Jack Reynor (Delivery Man; an upcoming Transformers movie), Douglas Booth (KYLE IN LOL with MILEY CYRUS), Zoë Kravitz (used to date Drake; might be related to Lenny Kravitz?), Katie Chang (The Bling Ring), Liana Liberato (Trust –> ?) and Sami Gayle (Blue Bloods, also Vampire Academy).

Final tally: five non-white people out of 23. And in the future, all great actors will have starred in Vampire Academy/be British.
