The geniuses over at The Onion have done it again.
The standards projected by the beauty industry have long been lambasted since probably the dawn of the cosmetics industry (Queen Victoria did frown upon makeup in her time). As beauty standards are becoming increasingly out of touch while promoting a narrowing spectrum of beauty, the Onion has taken the opportunity to shit on all of that.
Introducing, Maybelline’s ‘Ideal-Woman’ rubber mask. A one size, shade, race-fits all latex mask that women can “apply” instead of makeup. In the hilarious/freaky ad, the fake Director of Marketing boasts:
Forget concealer, powder, blush or mascara. Now you can achieve a look that adheres to the conventional standard of feminine perfection in seconds.
