Woman's Decomposing Corpse Found Chilling In Family Home a Year Later
LatestHere’s some A Rose for Emily shit for your Wednesday: Police in Gloversville, New York, found something horrifying while doing a routine welfare check on a 94-year-old-woman—her rotting corpse, likely decomposing for more than a year. And there’s a twist.
The Associated Press reports that Hope Ruller may have been dead as of 2013 but wasn’t discovered until last week. Her body is so badly rotted that coroners can’t even determine what caused her death (considering she was 94, it was likely something natural), but it’s being ruled suspicious due to the fact that Ruller wasn’t isolated or even alone. In fact, her family—a daughter and adult grandson—lived in the apartment right above her, and yet her death went unreported for a long, long time.
Police haven’t made any arrests yet, but it’s possible this entire story will unravel like a terrifying soap opera with evil twins and a truly nefarious motive. It is also possible, and I say this as someone who is very biased, that the woman’s family was just too lazy to do anything about her death (or possibly too impoverished to pay for a funeral) and just assumed “the smell would go away in a couple of weeks. Just go down there and spray that orange stuff a few times every day.”
