23-Year-Old Becomes World's Youngest Grandmother

Rifca Stanescu of Romania eloped when she was 11 to marry a 13-year-old because she feared her father was trying to marry her off to another boy. She gave birth to their child Maria when she was 12, and now 11-year-old Maria has given birth after marrying last year. “I am happy to be a grandmother but wished more for Maria,” says Rifca. The 23-year-old is said to be the world’s youngest grandmother, but according to Wikipedia, Mum-Zi of Nigeria earned the unfortunate title at 17.
