Yesterday the Lands End, the Long Island home that may have inspired The Great Gatsby, was torn down to make way for a new development of five homes. Now if people want to imagine the extravagant parties that took place there in the ’20s, they’ll have to watch the Robert Redford/Mia Farrow film, the upcoming Baz Luhrmann adaptation, or maybe even read the book.
