Malala Yousafzai promised the parents of a group of kidnapped Nigerian school girls she would work for their freedom.
Yousafzai, the Pakistani teen who was shot in the head and almost killed by an anti-education Taliban asshole assassin, met on Sunday with the parents of the girls. In a highly emotional meeting, Yousafzai vowed to work to free the women who are still being held hostage by Boko Haram, according to USA Today.
“I can see those girls as my sisters,” Yousafzai told the parents of more than 2o0 girls kidnapped by the Nigerian terrorist group earlier this year. “I can feel … the circumstances under which you are suffering,” Malala told the parents of the girls. “It’s quite difficult for a parent to know that their daughter is in great danger. My birthday wish this year is … bring back our girls now, and alive.”
It’s not the first time the young activist has spoken out about the kidnappings. She is reportedly scheduled to meet Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on her 17th birthday on Monday to discuss the kidnapped girls.
