Like many of us living in a world where love is consistently dead, Mindy Kaling appreciates the idea of marriage but is kind of okay with the possibility of never getting married.
Last year, Kaling told Howard Stern that once upon a time she was totally down to marry her ex and former co-star from The Office, B.J. Novak, whom she referred to as “a great love.” In an interview in the new February issue of Good Housekeeping, the 35-year-old says:
“When I was younger, I wanted so badly to be married and have kids in a rush. I loved my parents’ relationship. The way my father was with my mother when she was dying was so moving. It was such devotion. I don’t know that that will happen for me, but I like it.”
“I don’t need marriage. I don’t need anyone to take care of all my needs and desires. I can take care of them myself now.”
Maybe she’ll do one of those Eat Pray Love things instead.
