Obama Picks Chicago for Library Site. New York Still Great

President Obama has selected Southside Chicago as the residence for his Presidential Library and Museum, reports state. Bummer, New York ;/

Columbia University was previously in contention, fueling rumors that the Obamas were considering settling in New York after vacating the White House. But the victory goes to Chicago and Mayor Rahm Emanuel, according to The New York Times:

Mr. Emanuel publicly vowed to make Chicago’s bid competitive with New York’s, so that Mr. Obama could choose “his hometown for where his presidential library, in my view, belongs.”

Sources say the news will be announced and made official within two weeks. No word on what this means for the family’s living sitch.
