Vloggers Set Guinness World Record for Most Selfies Taken in One Hour
Latest
Two Indiana-based vloggers broke the Guinness World Record for “most selfies taken in one hour” over the weekend.
I will let your brain adjust to the realization that “most selfies taken in one hour” is an actual Guinness World Record. OK, moving on! Vloggers Mark E. Miller and Ethan Hethcote, an openly gay couple with a popular YouTube channel, attempted the record as part of the “#missionsmile” campaign. They hit up a beach in Miami on Saturday, asking people to take pictures with them. Via the Miami New Times:
[They] like selfies so much that they decided to set a world record of taking the most selfies in one hour on South Beach’s solemn shores for the launch of the #missionsmile movement. The claim to conquer even caught the attention of the official judge of all things holy-shit-did-that-really-just-happen, Guinness World Records. The record-breaking task might sound easy, but there were rules placed to achieve the highest level of self-indulgence.
“The way this works is it’s not just one person taking photos of themselves, but they have to have a different person in each photo that they take,” explained Official Guinness World Records adjudicator, Kimberly Partrick. “The challenge is about getting engagement from the crowd wherever you are.”
They took 355 selfies—THREE-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY-FIVE. Holy shit. You would get sick of fucking smiling after the first 100. (Actually, I would burn out after two.)
I hear James Franco is seething that he lost out on this record.
