Who Should Be in the All-Female Ghostbusters Movie?
LatestPaul Feig, the director who brought us Bridesmaids and The Heat, is allegedly in talks to direct a reboot of Ghostbusters. This is very strange news—yes, there are mixed feelings all around as yet another movie franchise is getting the 20-30 year recycle treatment (which burns especially because people were really excited about the ill-fated Ghostbusters 3). But it’s also pretty fucking exciting. I highly doubt the remake will take the annoying GRITTY REBOOT route, and the film is said to be based around an all-female crew of busters. AWESOME.
Of course, if you are still a little salty about a classic with such a legacy being remade, feel free to tap out—we’re all a little tender. But for the rest of you, in the spirit of the great pop culture mental exercise, who would you like to see as the female counterparts of Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Dr. Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Dr. Egon Spengler (the late Harold Ramis)? (Also, I don’t know if they’re sticking to the trio from the first movie or if they feature all four busters including a female counterpart to Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore?)
While I could see Feig pulling his heavy hitters like Kristen Wiigg, Sandra Bullock, and Melissa McCarthy, I’m going to suggest Aisha Tyler as Venkman, Amy Schumer as Stanz, and June Diane Raphael as Spengler. What say you?
