Australian Woman's Racist Train Rant Goes Viral

A woman has apologized for a racist tirade after video of her rant on a train in Sydney, Australia went viral.

The video was posted on Tuesday by Kareem Abdul who described the incident on YouTube:

On the Central coast & Newcastle line in peak hour during school holidays. I started filming as the woman became aggressive toward some children (ages 12 & under) who refused to vacate their seats when she had demanded. This video begins just after she had started screaming expletives into the face of the upset kids and the mother of the children got up to stand in between the lady and her kids. The lady then assaulted the mother and a young dude who gave up his seat for her and now the lady is calling the police…. Because the kids didn’t move?

The abuse on the video is pretty horrific. Via The Guardian:

The woman begins to abuse a man and a woman whom she calls “Asian”.
“He can’t even get a regular girlfriend, he’s got to get a gook,” the passenger says.
When the woman referred to as an “Asian” tries to defend herself, the abusive passenger makes fun of her accent before saying: “What’s wrong with Hong Kong? Why did you come to Australia?”
She then turns her attention back towards the man, calling him “sad” and “pathetic”.
“Look at this bogan here. He’s got a gook. Isn’t it sad he can’t get a regular girl? He’s got to get an Asian.”

Transport for NSW sent this tweet on Tuesday after the video leaked:

The woman, identified as Sue Wilkins, 55, apologized for her racist rant, telling 9News she was embarrassed by the video:

“It’s not nice what I did to that lady,” Ms Wilkins told ninemsn.
“It wasn’t nice to say that to her because it’s not nice when people say that to me … call me white trash and fatso. I know how it hurts and I shouldn’t be saying it to other people.”

Police are currently investigating the incident, which may not be with consequences. Last year, a woman involved in a similar incident was charged with offensive language.
