In 2014, Cameron Diaz joined Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to promote her new book and her new film. But since September, her activity on all platforms has dropped off considerably (read: entirely). Wonder why?
In new interview with Cosmopolitan UK, Cameron explained that she’s just not so hot on those outlets for expression any longer; dramatically, the magazine seems to suggest that her absence is due to an active decision on her part to full-on quit them. (Though her Facebook page has recent posts, they do not appear to have been written by Cameron herself):
I think social media is a crazy-ass experiment on society. The way people use it to get validation from a bunch of strangers is dangerous. What’s the point?
Last year, Cameron’s movie The Other Woman made nearly $200 million worldwide and was number one in the U.S. opening weekend. Her book The Body Book made it to #1 on The New York Times bestsellers list.
