Shortly after we wrote about Facebook’s refusal to remove a page glorifying the New Zealand Teen Rape Club known as the “Roast Busters,” the page quietly disappeared from the social networking site. But don’t bake Facebook any fucking cookies; there’s still no way for users to report pages for “sexual violence.” And other pro-Roast Busters pages have popped up in place of the now-defunct page.
Users who find pages promoting sexual violence on Facebook shouldn’t have to shoehorn the content into categories that don’t make sense. And it shouldn’t take Loud Internet Complaining to get pro-rape webpages taken down. But I’m not holding my breath that Facebook is actually going to do anything about it.
