Have You Wept Over Avengers: Endgame Today?

People across the land are weeping. Over a loved one who’s passed away, over insurmountable financial debt, and also Avengers: Endgame.

Film critics are beside themselves, and it’s not funny. If emotions are your thing, Avengers: Endgame will probably make you cry. Screen Rant’s editorial director tweeted on Tuesday, after a screening: “Just watched Avengers: Endgame. I don’t believe hyperbole is possible for this movie. It is the ultimate Marvel movie in every way possible and words cannot describe how epic it is. And yes, Hawkeye is a rockstar.”

Beatrice Verhoeven at The Wrap tweeted, “I cried a lot, I flung my hands in the air and screamed out loud.”

I can relate, having teared up a little bit during Avengers: Infinity War when Thor made a superhero landing in the middle of Wakanda and yelled, “Briiinngg meeee THANOS!” I felt proud, like he was my brother or husband. (This sounds like hyperbole, but it’s not.) I might not be a good cry-gauge, though. I also cried at the end of A Star Is Born and during lots of animated films like Boss Baby.

Chris Evans said he “cried like six times” at the movie’s premiere on Monday in Los Angeles. Opening weekend tickets have been selling out. Theaters will keep employees in an underground bunker and remain open for days on end until everyone in the country has seen Endgame. It’s happy tears.
