Hero Barber Gives Free Haircuts in Exchange For Kids Reading Him a Story
LatestLast Saturday, as part of an annual community event helping families get ready for the new school year, an Iowa barber gave free haircuts to kids in exchange for them reading him a story. What’s that? Something’s in your eye too? Crazy.
The barber’s name is Courtney Holmes, and, according to the Associated Press, he “just want[ed] to support kids reading.”
The St. Mark Youth Enrichment organization brought books for the Back to School Bash and Homes brought his clippers—he even helped kids sound out words they didn’t recognize. Over 100 kids and parents participated in the event, and there were plenty of nice fades to go around, just in time for the first day of school on September 1.
