In the world, somewhere, there apparently exists a recording of Ice-T doing an audiobook for a Dungeons and Dragons book. And that is how you know the universe loves you.
But even more amazing than that is Ice’s rundown of what the experience was like.
On his Ice T’s Final Level Podcast, the rapper recently told a story about snagging an audiobook recording gig, which he was up for—until he realized it was for a book based on Dungeons and Dragons.
“They didn’t tell me this was a motherfuckin’ Dungeons & Dragons
book,” Ice says, explaining to partner Mick Benzo that D&D is “some
of the most crazy, deep, deep nerd shit.”
“Motherfuckers talk like Yoda,” Ice T marvels.
“They were talking about ‘pegasuses’ and ‘pegasi.’ That’s horses with
wings,” he continues. “This motherfucker got a sword that talks to him…
Motherfuckers live in places that don’t exist, and it comes with a map.
My God.”
He said it took him three-and-a-half hours to read 25 pages. I feel your pain, Ice. I really do.
He would not say the name of the book, but promised to let people know when it comes out. Before you run off to Google the shit out of “Ice-T audiobook Dungeons and Dragons,” we’ll leave with some truly sage advice from the actor and recording superstar:
“Considering the way music is right now, you’re better off listening to a book,” he said. “Honestly, it’s more entertaining.”
