On Wednesday’s episode of The Talk, Carrie Ann Inaba brought up the apparent bane of Jamie Lee Curtis’s existence, and Curtis ranted about it with aplomb. Excellent.
“Okay, so there was one thing you were a little frustrated about at the Golden Globes,” Inaba started, to which Curtis smarted, “A little?” And then she revisited her evisceration of Fiji Water’s slick attempt at marketing via photobombing on the red carpet before this year’s ceremony by having a model named Kelleth Cuthbert drift into celebrities’ pictures holding bottles of the company’s water.
“I saw what was happening from 50 feet away,” recalled Curtis. “I saw this girl, I saw a photographer, I was like, ‘Mmmm.’ And as I walked forward, the guy, not saying, by the way that he was with her, said, ‘Ooh, you look great, can I take your picture?’ And I literally said out loud, ‘Not with her in the background, ’cause I’m not doing an advertisement for Fiji Water, because they don’t pay me.”
You know what? Same.
“And so I moved 10 feet away from her and stood there with my hand on my hip and took my picture,” she continued. “And somebody from the side took a picture where she was in the background. And my only beef was that was something that should be informed. It’s not a big deal. The truth is, they should say, ‘I’m with Fiji Water. May we take a picture?’ And then some people would say yes, and some people would say no, and they just have to appreciate for some people that that’s not okay. I just thought it wasn’t cool, it’s not a big deal. And by the way, it has nothing to with her, and I only wish her well, and if she hosts the Oscars I won’t watch. But it’ll be cute.”
You know what? I wish I could say “same” here, too, but I have to cover the Oscars for work 🙁
