Melania Trump Knows the President Will Never Ever Ever Be Best

Ahead of her trip to a school in Oklahoma, where Melania Trump will presumably end bullying as we know it, CNN’s Christi Paul asked the first lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham how she balances the anti-bullying message of her Be Best campaign “against some of the things that the president does.”

“Her message is so important. It’s so applicable to every family today,” Paul asked. “And yet there are people who think her husband is one of the biggest violators of some of the things she is talking about in terms of respecting each other and not calling each other names and not bullying each other and what not. How does she balance her platform against some of the things that the president does?”

“I think that, honestly, one thing really doesn’t have anything to do with the other and she is focused on helping children,” Grisham said. “She has said many times that her husband is an adult, he’s the President of the United States, he knows what he’s doing, and she’s focused on Be Best, she’s focused on children. Children are the ones who are impressionable right now, and so she’s going to go out there and do the best that she can to help them succeed.”

Melania knows that the president will not—and cannot be Best—but she will not be deterred.
